LABOR CANDIDATE FOR BARTON

LINDA BURNEY

EVERY CHILD IN EVERY SCHOOL IN BARTON WILL BE BETTER OFF UNDER LABOR

Labor Candidate for Barton, Linda Burney, has welcomed the Labor Party’s commitment to the parents and students of Barton through its Your Child, Our Future plan.

Data released this week shows that no matter where a student lives or what school they attend they will be better off with a Labor government in Canberra.

The plan means that schools will be better off in Barton by $26 million over the next 3 years, the Your Child, Our Future will see students funded on a needs basis and will ensure that students and teachers are provided with the resources they need.

The policy will mean more individualised support and attention for students, better early literacy and numeracy intervention programs, and better professional development for our teachers.

In contrast to Labor’s positive plan to fund our schools, Malcolm Turnbull is promising cuts of $29 billion to Australia’s classrooms over the next decade – cuts which will negatively impact on the future of our students and the future of our nation.

Local Member for Barton, Nick Varvaris, is yet to comment on his government’s decision to slash school funding across Barton.

“This plan means that for students from diverse language backgrounds, or with other needs that require special attention, funding will be provided to make sure that they receive the support they need.”
