The singer has been embroiled in renewed controversy in the wake of the recent Lifetime docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly,” which chronicles allegations of abuse, predatory behavior and pedophilia against him.
Members of Australia’s opposition Labor party released a statement to the BBC about Kelly.
“Labor strongly supports the refusal or cancellation of visas of non-citizens on character or criminal grounds,” the statement said.
Kelly has consistently denied the allegations, some of which date back decades, and has never been convicted of a crime connected to them.
